I’ve always valued books as objects as much as texts, not only for what they contain, but for how they are made, handled, and preserved. Over time, I became increasingly dissatisfied with the materials and construction of many modern editions. Even when the content or illustration was exceptional, the physical book itself often felt temporary. The stories deserved better.

Loxley Bindings was founded to address that imbalance.

I produce bespoke leather-bound editions using traditional bookbinding methods, with an emphasis on durability, proportion, and restraint. Each book is either printed and sewn from the ground up, or carefully taken down and rebound by hand, using materials chosen for longevity rather than convenience. My approach is informed by historic bindings, without simply reproducing them. The aim is always to create a book that will age well, both physically and visually.

Every commission is undertaken individually. I work directly with each client to determine the most appropriate structure, materials, and finish for the text in question, whether that is a personal manuscript, a cherished modern novel, or a classic work deserving of a more permanent form.

These are not decorative objects produced for display alone. They are books made to be read, handled, and kept for generations.
